This photo was taken at my hometown in Majayjay, Laguna. While the military was inspecting our vehicle, I saw this small house at the rice fields. Back in the 80's, as I remember, this type of house was built using coconut leaves and we used to call it "Bahay Kubo" or "Nipa Huts". Those that were built near the rice fields was used as a resting place after planting or harvesting rice under the hot sun. Nowadays, those houses are usually made of hollow blocks and cement for they last much longer than bamboos and coconut leaves. The electrical post at the right symbolizes source of power because during the old days farmers and other locals often used candles or gas lamps to light up their homes.
